Lastly, the silly poem I wrote on the plane about my travel day…

“I Didn’t Need an Encore”

I was on the train departing from Lisbon, just 15 minutes in and my head was spun.

Only three hours to Porto, only three days more…
Did I want to keep going? I wasn’t sure.

We love to travel, we live for it,
But do we always know when to call it quits?
To wander on home…
and restart our phone?

I was on the train departing from Lisbon,
just 15 minutes in and my head was spun…
Lisbon was a perfect peak
What more did I have to seek?

I jumped off the train at a random station
And felt instant exhilaration.

That wasn’t my train, I needed a plane.
It was time to refrain,
To completely rearrange.

I was only 2 miles from the Lisbon airport…the first strike of luck,
After my manic actions and plans that had gone to muck...

I didn’t have cash for the cab!
“Tranquillo”, the driver said as I sobbed and blabbed.
I gave her a dollar,
And a grateful holler.
She didn’t even care,
That I couldn’t pay the fare.

“I need a ticket!" (at check-in) I say.
“You wouldn’t believe my day.”
                                                                                                                                               “Fully booked.”
“Fully booked.”
“Fully booked.”

This was my taxi karma.
I knew I’d have to work my charma.
I cried and I tried….
A standby ticket for a hefty price was transcribed.

Seats cleared,
And so did my fears.
A boarding pass was printed…
And hopes of home were hinted

From train to plane….
My body before my brain…
Maybe gone a bit insane...

I love to travel, I live for it
But do I know when to call it quits?

Only three hours to Porto, only three days more…But I didn’t need an encore.

See you someday, Porto.
Today, I had to aborto.
