Palma de Mallorca, Spain
The Backdrop from the Balcony
A backdrop of silent scenery,
An outline of mountains, still seas.
An array of parked yachts,
motionless palm trees, sand without one footprint.
All is set.
A string of children cycling.
A couple in tacky floral strolling hand in hand.
A boozy bunch of Germans sailing in.
British Airways gliding by.
A rotating cast of characters
Pouring themselves into the scene.
The set is left still,
the props slightly out of place,
but soon the next show will begin.
An Au Pair for Christina
I went to Palma de Mallorca on August 2nd, 2022 with plans to be an Au Pair for Christina and her daughter, Carla. I was to stay 1 month. Nothing went particularly as planned, and I was gone by August 5th, alone in Palma with no place to go. (Click the link for the whole story)
After I fled from Christina’s, I was a Palma nomad…hostel hopping, meeting new pals, & quite content
At the Boc Hostel in Palma, I met a group of french boys and decided to join their vacation. We explored the island by day, going to various beaches and mountain towns, and partied in the discoteca by night….
Then I hired a locksmith and broke into my new home
In The Tramuntana
“The Tramuntana”…”beyond the mountains” The Tamuntana wind soars down from the Serra de Traumuntana mountains of Mallorca, sending a shiver through whoever it passes. When the breeze reaches sea level, it greets the Mediterranean loudly, instantly chilling the saltwater and conjuring up a vivacious swell. For a Mediterranean sailor the turbulent Tramuntana means exhilaration. (Click the link for the full story)
